I need to know if cell regeneration occurs at it's normal pace while a person is in a coma.?

I'm writing a story and I have a character that's in a coma so would their cell regeneration and other bodily functions be slowed down because of this. and also would they possibly live longer if they were supplied with all the food and water their bodies would need to survive?
